Internal Standards

1.1: AS 90930 Carry out a practical chemistry investigation, with direction 4 credits

1.2: AS 90931 Demonstrate understanding of the chemistry in a technological application 2 credits

External Standards

1.3: AS 90932 Demonstrate understanding of aspects of carbon chemistry 4 credits

1.4: AS 90933 Demonstrate understanding of aspects of selected elements 4 credits

1.5: AS 90934 Demonstrate understanding of aspects of chemical reactions 4 credits

Information regarding Endorsement at Merit or Excellence Level

If a student gains 50 credits at Excellence, their NCEA will be endorsed with Excellence. Likewise, if a student gains 50 credits at Merit (or Merit and Excellence), their NCEA will be endorsed with Merit.

Students will gain an endorsement for a course if, in a single school year, they achieve:

  • 14 or more credits at Merit or Excellence, and

  • at least 3 of these credits from externally assessed standards and 3 credits from internally assessed standards.
